Wadi El-Natrun, the true birthplace of Christian monasticism. Originally there were about 50 monasteries, only 4 have survived to this day. Start your journey at Deir al-Baramus, the oldest and in many ways the most isolated of the four surviving monasteries, then continue to Deir Anba Bishoi, whose body is still there.
